Biography

Camilo Fernández Bravo, MD, PhD, is a cardiologist and academic researcher with international training and a multidisciplinary background that integrates clinical medicine, cardiovascular science, systems thinking, and the humanities. He earned his medical degree from the University of Medical Sciences of Camagüey, Cuba, completing the official six-year curriculum with a total of 10,840 academic hours, including 2,784 hours of supervised clinical internship. His postgraduate medical training in cardiology was completed in United States and Brazil, where he subsequently developed extensive clinical experience in both acute and chronic cardiovascular care. Dr. Fernández Bravo is board-certified in Cardio-Oncology and has particular expertise in the intersection between cardiovascular disease and systemic conditions, including cancer-related cardiotoxicity, inflammatory cardiomyopathies, arrhythmias, pulmonary vascular disease, and advanced heart failure. His clinical interests extend to complex cardiovascular imaging, echocardiographic diagnostics, and multidisciplinary decision-making in high-risk cardiovascular patients. He has more than four years of professional experience working within collaborative healthcare teams and is deeply committed to evidence-based practice, patient-centered care, and continuous improvement in clinical outcomes. He is the author of the study “Association Between Adverse Pregnancy Outcomes and Elevated N-Terminal Pro-Brain Natriuretic Peptide Levels 2 to 7 Years Postpartum: A Comprehensive Analysis from the nuMoM2b Heart Health Study,” affiliated with the Department of Cardiology at the University of Global Health Sciences in Miami, Florida.
