Dr. Emre UYGUN

Biography

Dr. Emre Uygun is an academic and researcher specializing in engineering and artificial intelligence technologies. He completed his undergraduate studies in Civil Engineering and Management Information Systems (MIS), followed by a master’s degree in Architecture and Design. He earned his PhD in Transportation Technologies from Süleyman Demirel University and pursued post-doctoral research in Civil Engineering and Computer Science at Pamukkale University. Dr. Uygun's doctoral thesis, titled “Acoustic Monitoring and Structural Defect Detection Method Based on Sound-to-Spectrogram Conversion,” focused on the detection of structural defects using acoustic analysis and deep learning techniques in railway systems. Throughout his academic career, he has obtained various national and international patents, including those for accident prevention systems in railway systems and emergency traffic situation warning systems for autonomous vehicles. In 2024, he was awarded the Gold Medal at the International Invention Fair held in Istanbul and received the "Best Doctoral Thesis Award in Engineering" at the International ITS Summit hosted by Hacettepe University. In 2022, he was honored with the Contribution to the Industry and Honorary Membership Award by ERTICO and the European Commission. Dr. Uygun has served as a project leader and researcher in TÜBİTAK projects and other scientific research endeavors. He is notably recognized for his projects on acoustic analysis-based structural health monitoring and classification in railway systems. His academic pursuits include advanced technology fields such as artificial intelligence, deep learning, signal processing, and 3D modeling. He has numerous publications and citations on international platforms like Google Scholar, Web of Science, and ORCID. Additionally, Dr. Uygun has approximately 10 years of experience in Technopark environments. Dr. Emre Uygun continues to apply his extensive academic knowledge to the industry, offering innovative solutions. He actively participates as an organizer and advisor in scientific events, providing guidance to students and researchers.
