Dr. Agus Rianto

Biography

Dr. Agus Rianto is an experienced academic specializing in English language education, with extensive expertise in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) and related areas. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in TESL from University Putra Malaysia and has been actively involved in academia since 2007 as an Assistant Professor at Universitas Borneo Tarakan, Indonesia. Dr. Rianto’s teaching portfolio includes subjects such as TEFL, advanced writing, linguistics, and applied linguistics, reflecting his diverse academic interests. His professional background extends beyond teaching, as he has contributed to curriculum development, teacher training, and supervision of both undergraduate and postgraduate students' research. He has a strong publication record in Scopus-indexed journals, where his research primarily focuses on language learning strategies, metacognitive reading strategies, and the integration of technology in education. In addition to his academic roles, Dr. Rianto has been involved in leadership positions, including his tenure as the Head of the Language Centre at Universitas Borneo Tarakan from 2012 to 2021. His contributions to education are not limited to the university level; he has been engaged in community outreach, organizing English language workshops and literacy programs to support local communities.
