Dr. Ryan Lansangan

Biography

Dr. Ryan V. Lansangan obtained his degree on Doctor of Philosophy in Science Education from the Philippine Normal University. He graduated from the same university with the degree on Master of Arts in Science Education and Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Cum Laude, and as a DOST scholar. His extensive involvements in the academe include being a researcher, textbook writer, lecturer, LET reviewer, teacher professional development facilitator, research consultant, and panelist. In the area of research, he has published works in national and international indexed journals and presented papers at national and international conferences. He is a Senior Fellow of the Philippine Association for Ethical Research Education, an associate member of the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP), and the Associate Editor of the Journal of Educational Learning and Advancement. His research interest includes experimental research (in education and pure science research), mixed methodology, and qualitative research in the areas of pedagogy, assessment, and metacognition. Dr. Lansangan holds several posts at the University of Santo Tomas such as the Chair of the Research Management of Junior High School, former pedagogical lead of UST JHS and a member of the Core Group of Speakers and Facilitators of the Center for Innovative Teaching and Educational Delivery (CITED), UST’s arm in the continuing professional development programs for faculty members. Most importantly, Dr. Lansangan is also a classroom teacher. His exceptional teaching performance earned him the 2020 and 2024 Gawad Santo Tomas as the Most Outstanding High School Teacher, and the 2025 Gawad San Lorenzo Ruiz. And in the year 2024, he was recognized as one of the Global Ulirang Guro awardees of the Association of Fil-Am Teachers of America in New York, USA. Recently, he has served as a resource person in the 2025 National Science and Technology Fair (NSTF) and a member of the content validators of the learning resource packages in science for the MATATAG Curriculum. Currently, Dr. Lansangan is the science academic coordinator of the University of Santo Tomas Junior High School.
