Biography

Dr. Taiwo Peter AJAYI is a scholar of Media and Communication Studies whose academic and professional trajectory reflects sustained excellence, interdisciplinary depth, and a strong commitment to intellectual advancement within the fields of media science, information studies, and theology. He currently serves as a Lecturer in the Department of Information Science and Media Studies, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria. Dr. Ajayi began his formal academic training in Theology, earning a Diploma in Theology with Distinction from the Christ Apostolic Church Theological Seminary, Ibadan, where he won several awards. This foundational theological education informs his scholarly orientation, particularly as it relates to ethics, communication, and the interface between religion and society. He proceeded to obtain a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Mass Communication, graduating with First Class Honours and was awarded a full postgraduate scholarship, after which he advanced to postgraduate scholarship in communication. He holds a Master’s Degree in Public Relations and Advertising, completed with a PhD-grade distinction, as well as a second Master’s Degree in Journalism, earned with Distinction with a 4.50CGPA. His advanced Doctoral training was completed at Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD), where he obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mass Communication. During his Doctoral programme, Dr. Ajayi was conferred with the distinction of achieving the highest PhD thesis score in the history of the Department, a record that underscores his scholarly rigor and research depth. Dr. Ajayi’s academic interests span Media studies, Information Science, Public Relations, Strategic Communication, Journalism, Digital Culture, and the intersections of Media and Religion. His work is shaped by an integrative perspective that draws from both Communication Science and Theological Scholarship. In addition to his academic engagements, Dr. Ajayi is an ordained Pastor in the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) and a Reverend Gentleman, reflecting a dual commitment to scholarship and ministerial service. His background in ecclesiastical leadership and theological studies adds a unique interdisciplinary dimension to his teaching, research, and community engagement. Dr. Ajayi continues to contribute to academic discourse through teaching, research supervision, community service, and scholarly participation in conferences and professional platforms. His career reflects a sustained pursuit of excellence, an integration of faith and intellect, and a dedication to shaping the next generation of scholars and communication professionals.
