Biography
SR dr. eng. Marius BUDEANU, age 45 years. National Institute for Research and Development in Forestry “Marin Drăcea”, Brasov Research Station. Field of interest: Bioeconomy. Sub-domain: Forestry. Thematic areas: Forest genetics, tree breeding, ecology. More than two decades of expertise in forest genetics and conservation of forest genetic resources, including seed preservation. I have coordinated seven projects and collaborated on another 11 (Key person), disseminated in 70 publications (25 in WoS). The most important contributions are: - Selection of valuable natural population of Norway spruce and oaks for inclusion in the FGR National Catalogue and in situ conservation; - Testing of the spruce provenances in comparative trials for backward and forward selection; - Promotion of the narrow-crowned Norway spruce ideotype in the Romanian Carpathians; - Predicting the lower altitudinal limits for Norway spruce and European beech in future climate warming, in Romania; - Established seed orchards for oaks and spruce; - Established working protocols for seed storage; - Head of the seed testing laboratory and softwood seed storage center.
