Biography

Research on scroll narrative arts adheres to ethnographic practice by obtaining data and ideas through site visits, interviews, and observation. The Patuas Scroll narrative offers a better comprehension of the use of specific themes that follow hereditary styles. The Patua community has requested that the government revive the customs of those bygone days. Interviewees and researchers are entrenched in the patachitra trend and its chronological progression. Patuas are still active in contemporary scroll narrative arts practices in Medinipur district, using the essence of audio-visual storytelling tradition. In these ways, the findings of this research and their practice create a new narrative trend that may be summed up as pragmatic application: making a new cultural space that is necessary for the survival of the Patua people.
