Biography

I began my education at Command Children School, Mokola, Ibadan, Oyo State, where I studied from 1988 to 1995, before moving on to Command Secondary School, Bode Igbo, Ibadan, Oyo State, which I attended from 1995 to 2001. My undergraduate journey started at the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State, from 2004 to 2010. I later pursued both my Master’s and Doctorate degrees at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State, from 2011 to 2014 and 2014 to 2017, respectively. Over the years, I have obtained several academic qualifications. In 1995, I received my Primary School Leaving Certificate, followed by my Senior Secondary School Certificate in 2001. In 2010, I graduated with a First Class Honours in Forestry and Wildlife Management (BSc). I earned my Master of Forestry degree in Forest Ecology and Conservation in 2014 and completed my Ph.D. in the same field in 2017. These achievements have been accompanied by notable recognitions, such as the University Senate Annual Prize for the First-Class Honours Graduating Student in my department in 2010, the Professor Julius A. Okojie Prize for Best Graduating Student in 2010, and the Chief S. L. Edu Grant Award from the Nigerian Conservation Foundation in 2015. During my National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) year from 2010 to 2011, I worked as a class teacher at God’s Will Primary School in Ningi, Bauchi State. This role marked the beginning of my professional journey. Shortly after, in 2011, I joined the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, as a Junior Research Fellow in the Department of Forestry and Wildlife Management. Over the years, I have grown in my academic career, progressing to the position of Lecturer I in 2020, which I currently hold. I teach various undergraduate courses such as Principles of Silviculture, Seed and Forest Nursery Technology, Ecological Survey and Herbarium Techniques, among others. At the postgraduate level, I teach courses including Forest Genetics, Tree Breeding and Conservation, and Advanced Silviculture. I have also supervised 30 undergraduate projects to completion, with three ongoing ones. In addition to my teaching and research roles, I have served in various capacities within the university. At the departmental level, I have been a member of committees like the Welfare Committee, served as Secretary of the Departmental Committee, and taken on advisory roles for students, including being a 500-level advisor since 2023. At the college level, I have been an active member of the Board of the College of Environmental Resources Management (COLERM) since 2014 and have contributed to several committees, including Scholarships, Prizes, Loans, and Bursaries. My involvement extends to the university level, where I have participated in events like the Fascination of Plants Day and the Local Organizing Committees for major workshops and conferences. Community service is also a significant part of my life. Through my church, I have coordinated the RCCG Choir, served on the Teacher and Training Committee, and currently lead the Children’s Department. These roles allow me to contribute meaningfully to my local community. I have attended various training programs to enhance my professional skills, including a Proposal Writing Workshop organized by the Commonwealth Forestry Association, a workshop on modern teaching methods by CISLT, and training on forest and landscape restoration through the FAO E-Learning Academy. These experiences have broadened my perspective and informed my approach to teaching and research.
