Biography
Laila Alkhayat received her PhD in early childhood education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Foundation of Education at Kuwait University. Recently, her research has been based on the impact of technology and screen time on children and their social and emotional development. Lately, she has published various research papers on the impact of YouTube and Netflix on children in Kuwait, the difference between public and private school systems, human rights education, and the impact of screen time on ASD children. This research studies the educational scenarios Bidoon children faced during COVID-19. During the pandemic era of 2020 to 2021, Alkhayat worked with the Kuwait Volunteer Women's Association for Community Service to facilitate the stateless children by providing online learning facilities like laptops and tablets during the Covid-19. The results of this research would help the minority and the stateless people to charter the Kuwaiti students' attitude towards their children's educational rights in Kuwait.
