Biography
Dr. Hemraj P. Jangir specializes in the intersections between tribes, caste, gender and culture. Much of his research focuses on the de-notified and nomadic tribes. He is particularly interested in the connections between marginality and the social and cultural identities of people. His academic
research writings engage these themes with empirical evidence. His Ph.D. thesis provides a detailed socio-cultural and economic background of a marginal group called Nat, where he investigated the sedentarization process, and the issue of stigma and social exclusion among the group. His research
has been published in venues such as Social Work with Group, Caste/A Journal on Social Exclusion, Journal of Social Inclusion Studies, Social Change, Social Action, Journal of Social Work and Social Development & Indian Journal of Sustainable Development. He is the recipient of UGC-NET/JRF and an ICSSR Doctoral Fellowship. In 2020–21, he received a scholarship grant from the International Academic Forum (IAFOR) to present a paper at a conference. Dr. Hemraj is a founding member of Social Work Collectives: Young Scholars’ Forum. Currently he is working as Policy Analysit for Haryana CM Office.
